[News] Marriott Introduces New Version of Co-Branded Credit Cards!

 

Since Marriott’s new loyalty program officially being launched, American Express and Chase have both announced some changes to their co-branded credit cards. Marriott is rebranding Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest, and Ritz-Carlton Rewards as “Marriott Bonvoy”. Therefore, changes for the co-branded credit cards can also be expected. Let's see what kinds of changes are going to happen:

Chase Marriott Premier Plus Card will be rebranded as Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless

The Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card will be rebranded as Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card

The Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Card will be rebranded as Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card

The Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Business Card will be rebranded as Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card

Beyond that, Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express (click me) is closing to new applications in February, so now’s your last chance to get that card. For Chase, the Marriott Premier Plus Business Credit Card will close to new applications in February, and a new no-fee Marriott Bonvoy card will be launched this summer.

From February 13, 2019, card holders of Marriott Bonvoy Boundless will be able to earn an additional free night award (valid at a property retailing for up to 35,000 points) when they spend $60,000 or more annually on the card. From March 28, 2019, card holders of Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card will be able to earn an additional free night award (valid at a property retailing for up to 35,000 points) when they spend $60,000 or more annually on the card. These are in addition to the anniversary free night awards that the cards originally have offerred.

Also, From February 13 through April 24, 2019, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant and Marriott Bonvoy Business Cards will offer welcome bonuses of 100,000 points after spending $5,000 within three months. From February 28, 2019, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card will also offer a 100,000 points welcome bonus. There will also be an annual fee increase to $125 on the SPG Business Amex, which is being rebranded as the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card.

Starting February 24, 2019, existing card holders of Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card can register to earn 25,000 points for every $25,000 in eligible purchases on the card, up to four times for a maximum of 100,000 bonus points. More information regarding this will soon be available. Therefore, signing up for the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express (click me) (It will be renamed as Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card) before it stops accepting applications forever on February 12, 2019 could be the right move.
